Lauren S. Mearns

Ms. Mearns joined Curran Moher Weis in 2023 after working at another domestic relations firm in Northern Virginia. Her practice focuses on all areas of family law, including divorce, equitable distribution of assets, spousal and child support determinations, child custody and visitation, and other related matters. Ms. Mearns has assisted on and contributed to briefs before the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals of Virginia.  

Ms. Mearns is originally from Texas, where she received her B.B.A. in Economics from Baylor University. She received her law degree from American University. There, she served as a Note and Comment Editor on the Administrative Law Review, where her comment on state bankruptcy was published.  

During her time in law school, Ms. Mearns worked as a Student Honors Legal Intern at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in the Enforcement Division and in the Division of Corporation Finance, where she gained invaluable knowledge regarding complex business structures, which she applies to her practice today. 

Ms. Mearns is licensed to practice law in Virginia.
